About the role:
As Corporate Counsel you will provide practical legal support to Mitsubishi Chemical Group affiliates across the EMEA region on corporate, commercial and day-to-day business matters. Working closely with senior lawyers and cross-functional colleagues, you will help enable safe, compliant and well-informed decision-making throughout the business. This role is offered as a 2-year fixed-term employment contract and may be performed remotely (UK only) or from our offices in Wilton (UK) or Düsseldorf (Germany).
Your Responsibilities:
- Contribute to corporate transactions, including acquisitions, divestments and restructurings, by conducting research, preparing documentation and coordinating internal stakeholders.
- Support senior legal colleagues on a broad range of corporate, commercial and transactional matters across the EMEA region.
- Prepare, draft and review commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with internal policies and legal requirements.
- Assist with corporate governance and company secretarial activities for affiliated entities, including documentation, filings and record-keeping.
- Support pre-litigation and compliance matters, helping assess risk, coordinate external counsel and manage documentation.
- Collaborate closely with global teams such as HR, Finance, Compliance and Internal Audit, promoting trust, respect and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Your Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified lawyer or equivalent (Germany or England preferred).
- Experience in a multi-national, diversified corporate environment; exposure to chemical, materials or manufacturing industries is desirable.
- Role is well suited to candidates with a background in corporate / commercial property law, M&A, transactions or general commercial work.
- Business-aware and practical approach to legal issues, balancing risk with commercial priorities.
- Autonomous and proactive working style, comfortable managing multiple topics and adapting to changing demands.
- Interest in compliance topics (e.g., antitrust, export control) and willingness to support training and awareness activities.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages are an advantage.
