MIT Skills, a leading DfE funded provider in sport, is looking for tutors to deliver GCSE maths and/or English face to face one day per week at our football club's site.

Tutor Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To plan, prepare and teach courses for learners within the MIT programme of work, as agreed with senior management.
  • To carry out the administrative tasks required in each programme area.
  • To provide appropriate learner feedback and support.
  • To provide educational advice and information where necessary, and to create an appropriate and welcoming atmosphere for learners.
  • Plan, deliver and report on your course, using methods and materials appropriate to the learner group and course content.
  • Prepare/adapt appropriate teaching materials.
  • Identify/assess the needs of learners and if necessary adapt course content and delivery style to meet these needs.
  • Deal appropriately with individual learner support needs, using the appropriate forms and recording the required evidence for funding purposes.
  • Discuss Learning Outcomes or moderation requirements with learners as the course proceeds.
  • Comply with the MIT policies on Equality and Diversity and Prevent so that all learners are treated with respect and dignity in an environment in which a diversity of backgrounds and experience is valued.
  • Deal with any harassment or discrimination issues that arise.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning.
  • Assess learners’ work where appropriate.
  • Keep records of learners' progress and ensure learners are given feedback on their progress within regular reviews.
  • Offer advice on further learning and progression opportunities to learners as required.
  • Ensure that all required paperwork, including learning outcomes forms, course registers and weekly reviews are completed and communicated to the relevant office, in a timely manner.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by line managers commensurate with the post.

  • To take part in team meetings, events and training as necessary.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of the overall ethos/work/aims of MIT Skills.
  • To work in accordance with MIT Skills’ policies, particularly in relation to equality and diversity, bullying and harassment, health and safety, child protection and Prevent.
  • Level of CRB needed: enhanced.

  • The ability to be highly organised, paying close attention to detail.
  • Be able to enjoy and be able to work as part of a small team.

Experience:

  • Tutoring experience in a government funded environment (desirable).
  • Relevant professional competency to deliver the course.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • User of Microsoft packages.
  • Must hold or work towards teaching qualifications.
