The Digital Champion drives all digital, social and CRM (mailer) activity for the pub, ensuring consistent, sales-driving communication that aligns with the General Manager’s business vision and seasonal priorities.

This role blends content creation, community engagement, CRM performance, and proactive sales behaviour to deliver measurable commercial results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management
  • Deliver four Facebook posts and four Instagram posts per week, plus one Instagram Reel weekly.
  • Ensure content is high quality, on-brand, GDPR compliant, and aligned with the pub’s seasonal “big rocks”.
  • Use industry social insights to continually improve reach, engagement, and audience growth.
  • Keep the pub’s digital presence consistent, lively, and sales driven with clear CTA.
  • CRM & Email Marketing

· Produce two mailers per month

1st mailer: submit by the 1st of each month.

2nd mailer: submit by the 15th of each month.

  • Ensure every mailer includes a clear call to action, is fully GDPR compliant, and drives bookings or sales.

· Maintain strong email performance metrics

  • High email quality score
  • High open rate & click-through rate
  • Low unsubscribe rate
  • Make smart content decisions - e. g. never promote Sunday Roasts if fully booked, to avoid customer frustration and poor customer journey.
  • Quarterly performance review of all mailers, including generation of spend:

Identify what worked and why (themes, tone of voice, campaigns).

For underperforming mailers, analyse tone, message, and content to reshape strategy for future campaigns.

  • Website Management
  • Conduct monthly audits of the full website to ensure content is live, accurate, seasonal, and relevant.
  • Keep What’s On pages updated at least three months ahead to enable effective forward marketing.
  • Ensure all seasonal packages, booking types, and pre-order options remain current; flag outdated ones to Liv with recommended replacements.
  • Planning & Internal Communication
  • Have a deep understanding of the pub’s vision, sales strategy, and seasonal “big rocks”, ensuring all digital and social output works towards the same goals.
  • Support the GM by embedding digital sales driving messaging into the business culture and daily operations.
  • Bookings & Sales Conversion
  • Action all customer enquiries and bookings received Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, within two hours.
  • Ensure all pre-order menus and bespoke packages are correctly assigned to booking types for easy customer use.
  • Drive incremental sales through proactive pre-orders, upselling, and follow-up processes.
  • Use structured labels, reminders, and follow-ups to maintain a high booking conversion rate and avoid missed opportunities.
  • Community Engagement & Local Partnerships
  • Build strong connections with local businesses and community groups (e. g. Putney Walk & Talk).
  • Represent the pub positively within the local area to enhance community reputation and footfall.
  • Identify local events, time slot opportunities, and community moments that can generate sales, bringing forward clear action plans to activate them within the team.
  • Sales Growth & Strategic Thinking
  • Constantly identify time slots, sessions, and trading windows with commercial opportunity.
  • Work with the GM to create and embed living, breathing sales-driving activities that align with business goals.
  • Actively seek new opportunities to grow revenue via digital channels, partnerships, and community presence.
  • Online Reputation & Review Management
  • Maintain a 100% response rate across all online review platforms, ensuring replies are timely, personalised, and reflective of the pub’s tone of voice.
  • Craft thoughtful, engaging responses that both acknowledge the guest’s experience and drive future sales - for example: “We’re thrilled you loved our West Country rump of beef Sunday roast, next week we’re introducing our Dingley Dell porchetta, and it’s an absolute must-try.”
  • Ensure the team actively generates reviews by using feedback cards and encouraging guests to share their experience.
  • Prioritise keyword-rich reviews (not just named staff shoutouts) to support visibility in the Google Map Pack.

E. g. encouraging mentions like “best beer garden in Putney”, “top Sunday roast in SW15”, or “best pub for family dining in Putney”.

  • Monitor sentiment trends and feed insights back to the GM to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • What Success Looks Like
  • Strong, consistent social content that drives bookings and brand awareness.
  • High-performing email campaigns with measurable revenue impact.
  • Website always up to date, customer-friendly, and sales oriented.
