Main Purpose of Role
Analysis of bulk samples to determine the asbestos content with reference to HSE publication Asbestos: The Analysts' Guide (HSG 248).
Key Responsibilities
- Analysis of samples delivered to the laboratory.
- Completion of data entry on TEAMS.
- Booking in samples that have been received from site.
- Closing completed work.
- Completion of certificates of analysis as and when required.
- Ensuring that the laboratory is always kept clean.
- Make every effort to complete workload within the required time scale.
- To ensure the technical compliance of all work that is carried out and to liaise closely with the Laboratory Manager, Quality Manager and others.
- Ensure that all asbestos related work is carried out in accordance with company procedures and associated documentation.
- To comply with the Company General Quality Procedures with support from the quality manager.
- Reporting any occurrences during business activity that may require reporting to insurers or legal advice.
- Attend operational team meetings as and when required.
- Participate in internal and external (AIMS) audit scheme for asbestos identification.
- Ensure that all records are kept up to date.
- Ensure the security of laboratory equipment and records.
- Ensure that samples are stored and disposed of as detailed in company guidelines.
- Attend training courses as and when required.
- Carry out any other duties required as part of the overall strategy to achieve the company's objectives.
Performance Measures
- Analysis of bulk samples in accordance with HSG 248 and internal procedures IMSP66.
- Compliance with monthly QC requirements as per company procedures.
- Compliance with the Health and Safety Laboratory Asbestos in Materials Scheme (AIMS).

Experience/Knowledge Required
- Must have demonstrable experience within the asbestos field and meet the requirements for the role as set out in internal procedures (GPD 3 AIM PLM Procedures).
