Job objectives and responsibilities:

  • Mechanical HVAC Team Leader within Hard Services.
  • Be the first point of contact for the client and team employees, taking a proactive approach to customer care and dealing with day-to-day issues including delivery, quality, health, safety, environmental and resources.
  • Maintain, repair and install new assets predominantly on but not limited to fire dampers, AHU units and ventilation ducts to specified standards as determined by the contract, legislation and company procedures.

Main duties:

  • Proactively deal with all client queries providing feedback and escalation where appropriate.
  • Ensure all planned and reactive works are scheduled, planned, delivered and updated on Archibus in line with contract requirements and customer expectations.
  • Initiate stakeholder discussions to identify and agree appropriate safe system of work to progress tasks, promptly preparing SSOW documentation to undertake works in line with legislative, client and MITIE requirements.
  • Ensure adequate pre-job briefs, supervision arrangements, workface inspections, quality assurance and LFE is completed through team operations.
  • Take a proactive approach to WIP including progress updates, issue resolution, forecasting, escalation and completion.
  • Work with the planning team to schedule all planned and reactive tasks, ensuring efficient utilisation of resources to deliver optimum performance.
  • Report all incidents, accidents and near misses including non-compliant or unsafe conditions at the earliest opportunity.
  • Deliver regular team briefs and consult with the workforce to proactively engage, address and escalate issues.
  • Undertake workforce audits and assurance on the workface.
  • Attend and fully participate in training and appraisal activities as required by the business.
  • Coach, mentor and develop team members to reach their full potential.
  • Provide a clear scope for additional reactive and project works including preparation of quotations/estimates when required.

Person Specification:

  • Experience: Team Leader / Supervisor Experience; Experience in the maintenance, repair and installation of Fire Dampers, AHU units and ventilation ducts; A general knowledge of nuclear site non-core operational practices would be desirable but not essential; Ability to organise work and liaise with multi-discipline operational teams.
  • Qualifications: NVQ level 3 in HVAC or equivalent; Full clean driving license; IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Personal Attributes: Must be a dynamic individual with excellent communication skills, focused on service delivery, operational support & customer service; Able to develop and nurture long-term lasting relationships with the client, staff, sub-contractors and suppliers acting with professionalism and integrity at all times; Must have a positive approach and good work ethic.

Work Environment:

  • This is a mobile position across a large nuclear site, demanding a variety of physical activities to deliver the required service to the client.
  • The candidate must have a flexible approach to working hours (including overtime) and will also be required to work rostered weekends.
