We are seeking an experienced and motivated HSE Manager to support management at RAF Mildenhall and guarantee that Mitie's operations are executed safely and efficiently. This includes the application of the integrated business management system to maintain a sturdy and effective system that adheres to the company's and third-party accreditations' standards for quality, health, safety, and the environment.

The role also entails identifying and reducing accident risks to individuals, property, and the environment. Additionally, the position supports the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) function by participating in investigations, meetings, audits, and training to promote the utmost efficiency and practicality within the Group's QHSE function. Moreover, the job requires fostering a positive and engaging relationship with fellow QHSE team members and clients.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks for Mitie and its clients.
  • Staying informed about relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Ensuring that operational managers and staff are well-trained and competent in safety practices.
  • Providing guidance on Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) issues.
  • Conducting specialised risk assessments.
  • Investigating accidents.
  • Managing QHSE-related documentation.
  • Aiding in insurance claim processes.

We are seeking a candidate who is versatile and can handle various “ad hoc” duties as needed by the business. The ideal applicant should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and should be proficient with computers, particularly in Word and Excel. The ability to work independently and take initiative is crucial. Knowledge in Environmental Management is needed. Experience in industrial work, working at heights, and familiarity with the Integrated Facilities Management sector, especially in Hard Services, is essential, as well as experience managing multi-site, multi-disciplinary organisations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Certified members of IOSH as a minimum.
  • Full UK driving license.

The position includes the provision of a company vehicle to cover the site and other sites as appropriate.
