Join our specialist team supporting critical power infrastructure on MOD sites across the Falkland Islands as a Power Generation Electrician. You will deliver planned and reactive maintenance on standby and prime generators, HV and LV distribution systems and, when required, work on remote mountain top locations.
What You Will Do:
- Keep all machinery, equipment and systems within operational parameters.
- Overhaul, repair, test and install electrical equipment for diesel generators, including re-wires and control panel installations.
- Maintain and repair HV and LV distribution networks, including transformers, switchgear, controls, protection systems, cabling and overhead lines (3.3 kV to 33 kV).
- Interpret drawings and documentation for maintenance and installation work.
- Produce accurate statutory maintenance records, test certificates and contribute to technical reports.
- Carry out planned maintenance on Remote Sites.
- Support non-electrical maintenance tasks when required.
- Work towards Authorised Person HV and LV accreditation.
- Complete additional tasks as directed by your manager or the senior team.
What You Bring:
Education and Qualifications:
- GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths.
- City and Guilds or NVQ in engineering or equivalent.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or working towards).
- City and Guilds 2391 Electrical Testing.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience in electrical engineering disciplines.
- Familiarity with recognised health and safety procedures.
- Minimum of 3 years working with diesel generators and or 11 kV distribution networks.
- Skilled in electrical installation and maintenance, including 230 to 400 V AC and 12 to 110 V DC protection and control systems.
Desirable:
- Authorised Person electrical qualifications.
- ATEX, DSEAR or COMPEX training.
- Experience working overseas or within MOD environments.
- Background in power generation and distribution.
Skills and Abilities:
- Full clean driving licence valid in the Falkland Islands, UK or EU.
- Able to read installation drawings, circuit diagrams and line schematics.
- Clear and confident communicator.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Eligible for MOD basic security clearance.
