Mitie is seeking a dedicated and skilled Multi Skilled Technician with expertise in carpentry and painting to join our versatile team supporting world-class Armed Forces personnel. In this role, you will maintain and operate new and existing buildings, with a primary focus on reactive maintenance and occasional support for planned preventative tasks.
Main Duties
- Respond promptly to reactive repairs, making safe and isolating issues where necessary.
- Carry out a range of building fabric tasks, including carpentry (window and door repairs, fitting hardware, lock replacements), painting and decorating (touch-ups, full room decoration, surface preparation, and patch repairs), minor glazing repairs, and general fabric maintenance.
- Perform minor plumbing tasks as required.
- Escort subcontractors or personnel around the base when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of all assigned work orders and update job reports within one hour of attendance.
- Provide excellent customer service by keeping building occupants and custodians informed of progress, and liaising effectively with clients on-site.
- Support team members when needed and, with line manager approval, collect parts or goods from suppliers.
What we are looking for
- Proven experience in building maintenance, with strong carpentry and painting/decorating skills, and basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical work.
- Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ).
- Health and Safety awareness or certifications (e.g. CSCS, IOSH) are an advantage.
- Ability to work independently, manage a varied workload, and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Strong organisational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Flexibility to support different areas of the base when required.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance or a similar environment, including painting and general fabric works, is desirable.
Additional Information
- MOD security clearance and DBS standards are mandatory.
- To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least three years.
- Proof of the right to work in the UK is essential.
