Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for safeguarding our client's premises, assets, and personnel. You will play a key role in maintaining a secure environment and deterring potential threats.

About the Role:

  • Delivering excellent customer service.
  • Good level of concentration.
  • Good communication skills and effective reporting of any incidents to the duty manager.
  • Prevention of loss of assets, critical technology, sensitive information & reputation damage.
  • Oversee perimeter access through reception & gates for staff, tenants, contractors, visitors and vehicles (access/egress control).
  • Checking building passes.
  • Undertaking patrolling, searching and knowing emergency response procedures.
  • Role involves long periods of standing (regular rotating & ample breaks provided).
  • Conduct regular building patrols both external and internal of the premises to ensure security.
  • Comply with the front of house requirement.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems.
  • Respond promptly to alarms and incidents.
  • Maintain a visible and professional presence.
  • Enforce site Policies and Procedures, Assignment Instructions and SOPs.
  • Write detailed incident reports.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies where necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and visitors.
  • Assist with emergency response and evacuation procedures.

Training:

  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
  • To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Manager.
  • Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
  • You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.

Protection and Health & Safety:

  • Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
  • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss, or damage.
  • Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
  • To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
  • Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
  • To ensure check calls are being carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI's).
  • To call emergency services and Regional Operations Centre to report all incidents.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Security Officer in related roles.
  • Valid Security Licence (DS & CCTV).
  • Valid First Aid Certificate (EFAW or FAW).
  • Strong Observational Skills and Security Situational Awareness.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Flexibility to Work Various Shifts, including days, nights, Bank holiday and weekends.
  • DBS Check.
