As a General Maintenance Operative, you will support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance within a secure custodial environment at HMP Millsike. You can also ask our friendly recruitment team any questions you may have about the role, between 09.00am till 17.00pm Monday to Friday.

Shifts: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)

The role involves completing planned and reactive maintenance and monitoring of all prison fabric within scope. You will conduct tasks in compliance with Company Safety Policy, Procedures, relevant Codes of Practice, NR, and Statutory Regulations, ensuring adherence to the Company's and Clients' Permit to Work Systems. You will liaise with engineers and subcontractors, develop a detailed knowledge and understanding of site engineering services, and support best working practices.

You must complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time, coordinate connections to existing plant/systems, and use and maintain O&M Manuals and quality procedures.

Qualifications required include:

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent
  • IOSH or equivalent
  • C&G/BTEC Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering Parts 1, 2 and 3
  • NVQ Level 3 (multi-skilled engineering)
  • C&G 2079 F Gas or equivalent
  • HVAC or gas equivalent
  • C&G 2391/2 18th Edition IEE regulations

Previous relevant experience providing electrical maintenance services in a large, complex environment is essential. Basic to intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, with experience updating central data systems are also required.
