We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team delivering complex mechanical installations across plantrooms, energy centres, and large-scale decarbonisation projects. The role involves estimating works that include heat pumps, chillers, gas boilers, distribution pipework, thermal stores, and associated mechanical plant for public and private-sector clients.
Main Duties:
- Produce detailed mechanical cost estimates for plantrooms, energy centres, and decarbonisation projects, including heat pumps, chillers, and boiler upgrades.
- Interpret drawings and specifications to develop accurate take-offs, cost breakdowns, and comprehensive tender packages.
- Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring competitive pricing and full technical compliance.
- Assess project risks and opportunities, supporting value engineering and providing clear commercial recommendations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients through site visits, tender meetings, and bid submissions, while maintaining an up-to-date cost database for low-carbon technologies.
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within building services, M&E contracting, or energy infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical plant and the ability to interpret MEP drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Solid commercial awareness with a good understanding of tendering processes and cost planning.
- Proficient in estimating software, Excel, and digital take-off tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders, plus desirable knowledge of low-carbon technologies and relevant engineering qualifications (HNC/HND or degree).
