Every day, we make buildings safer, cleaner, more secure and more sustainable — and we're proud to have the UK's largest team of trained engineers. Are you looking for a role where every day is different? Do you enjoy solving problems and keeping buildings running safely? We're recruiting a Mobile Electrical Engineer to support our partnership with the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames Council — covering libraries, community buildings, offices, leisure sites and civic facilities. This role suits someone who enjoys mobile working, takes pride in high standards, and cares about safe, compliant buildings.

About the Kingston contract You’ll help keep Kingston’s buildings open, safe and efficient by supporting:

  • Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
  • Statutory compliance tasks
  • Reactive repairs and fault finding
  • Small upgrades and improvement works
  • Energy‑efficiency and sustainability projects (e.g. LED and controls)

You’ll work closely with council teams and Mitie colleagues to support Kingston’s wider net‑zero ambitions.

What you’ll be doing - Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across RBK sites. Install, upgrade and complete minor electrical works to current standards. Fault find and resolve issues safely and quickly. Keep accurate records, service sheets and compliance documentation. Communicate clearly with clients, suppliers and contractors. Follow safe systems of work and report hazards promptly.

What we’re looking for - Experience in facilities management or mobile maintenance. Experience working across multiple sites or a region. Level 2 & 3 City & Guilds (or NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation). 18th Edition and Test & Inspect. Good knowledge of statutory compliance (e.g. emergency lighting, fixed‑wire testing). Ability to read drawings, problem‑solve and communicate clearly (Training will be provided where needed).

What we offer - Salary up to £39, Enhanced overtime rates and on‑call allowance. Company van. Access to Mitie “Choices” benefits platform—buy extra holidays, dental cover and tech purchases, cycle‑to‑work and MiDeals discounts. Virtual GP services. Structured development and career pathways. Mitie Stars recognition scheme. Eligibility for the Mitie Matching Share Plan.

Our market‑leading offering provides you with benefits that suit your lifestyle. We have a virtual GP on hand for you and members of your household. So you can get expert advice by video or phone without having to leave your home. We offer financial wellbeing assistance through our Salary Finance scheme. For example, you could access 50% of your earned pay before payday for a small fee. Salary Finance also offers competitive loans. We give you access to high street discounts from thousands of well‑known retailers, gyms and more through our MiDeals platform. And we have a cycle‑to‑work scheme. Life cover of up to four times your salary is available. We also offer enhanced pension contributions, a save‑as‑you‑earn scheme, and a Mitie Matching Share Plan (you could even be awarded free shares in Mitie). We award our employees with Mitie Stars as recognition for their hard work. There are cash prizes up for grabs each month and at the end of the year there’s a chance to scoop a top prize of £10,!
