We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and monitoring of all mechanical equipment within the prison. You will manage the onsite team, ensure schedules and programs are followed, and maintain high standards. Building strong client relationships and conducting regular quality audits.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and develop staff and prisoners, manage absences, and ensure correct staffing levels.
- Adhere to health and safety policies, including preparing necessary documentation, and ensure SHE standards are maintained.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and permit-to-work systems, oversee planned preventive maintenance, and liaise with engineers and subcontractors.
- Take a proactive approach to client liaison, demonstrate detailed knowledge of site engineering services, and enforce risk management procedures.
- Review service performance, support best practices, and complete work-related documentation accurately.
- Investigate infrastructure issues, coordinate plant/system connections, and ensure staff have the necessary tools.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, conduct site inspections, and update the asset register.
- Provide availability for scheduled and unplanned weekend work.
The ideal candidate will possess basic to intermediate IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. An apprenticeship or equivalent qualification is required, as well as IOSH or an equivalent certification. Candidates should have completed C a biometric card alongside a current passport must be provided. Have continuously resided in the UK for the past 3 years, with no overseas trips longer than three months. Applicants must not have spent more than 3 months at any one time overseas during the previous 5 years.
This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and applicants must be prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS check, complete employer referencing for the previous 5 years and vetting to the level of Counter-Terrorist Checked (CTC) if offered a role. Not currently bankrupt.
