The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.

Our Markets division is set to grow rapidly over the next 12 months and we are nurturing a specialist team of professionals with the experience to ensure Mitie retain their place as market leaders in the sector. Risk management and procurement functions are moving away from classic gas and (brown) power contract management to fully ‘green' power contract management and risk mitigation. Customers now require PPA, REC, Carbon as well as power and gas price management.

This position will be responsible for the day-to-day management of customers' energy positions as well as following current processes to ensure a seamless delivery to our customers. The successful candidate should have experience in energy markets, including an understanding of general supply/demand fundamental drivers, and can demonstrate a focus on customer management.

Main duties

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following tasks:

  • Managing energy hedges for a number of strategic customers with flexible supply agreements.
  • Alongside Research team, following energy markets on a daily basis.
  • Send daily reports to customers to keep them up to date with latest prices and market developments as well as any hedge recommendations.
  • Advising customers on gas and power purchases in line with each customer's risk management policy and executing trades.
  • Ensuring that all trades are recorded and logged properly, using voice records where possible in line with FCA guidelines.
  • Helping customers to construct and review energy purchasing strategies to ensure that they are in line with each organisation's attitude towards risk.
  • Developing/generating reports to demonstrate performance against various metrics such as market averages or budgeted cost, as well as portfolio position reporting.
  • Keeping apprised of broader energy policy developments, both in relation to wholesale markets and non-energy charges.
  • Supporting the Senior Risk Managers and wider Risk and Contract Management teams with any reports or analysis on request.
  • Any other duty which reasonably falls within the scope of this role.
Knowledge, skills & experience

• At least 1 years' experience in energy, ideally with exposure to trading, risk management or research
• An awareness of wholesale market drivers and hedging techniques
• Attention to detail; ability to carry out complex tasks accurately and diligently.
• Good Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills
• Good data analysis and reporting skills
• Numerate and highly literate
• Self-starter, with experience of independent work and ability to work without close supervision
• Confident and calm under pressure
• Demonstration of your knowledge enthusiastically, passionately and clearly

The successful candidate will be based in London, Northampton or another Mitie office, but also be expected to attend meetings at customer sites from time to time. Flexible working from home is available 2-3 days per week at management's discretion.
