As a Senior Design Engineer, you will lead and manage a team of Graduate Design Engineers and Design Engineers to deliver high-quality electrical and solar PV system designs within agreed timelines. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Main Duties
- Lead and mentor design teams, managing workloads, reviewing submissions, and providing technical guidance to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and to programme.
- Oversee electrical design and compliance, including system design, cable sizing, protection calculations, designer risk assessments, and resolution of safety or non-compliance issues.
- Deliver Solar PV design expertise, undertaking system sizing, inverter selection, site feasibility assessments, and producing detailed layouts using CAD and PV design software (PV*Sol / PVSyst).
- Produce technical documentation and support clients, preparing specifications, tender information, and cost estimates while liaising with clients and stakeholders to communicate design intent.
- Drive continuous improvement, supporting training, sharing knowledge, capturing lessons learned, improving design processes, and maintaining accurate data within company systems.

- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (2382-22)
- Electrical Design & Verification of Installations (QCF Level 4 / 2396)
Preferred Qualifications
- Solar PV training or CPD certifications
- Electrical Installations (QCF Level 3 – 2357/2365)
- Electrical Testing & Inspection (QCF Level 3 – 2391)
- Experience in commercial-scale design projects
