The Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and integrity of the AWE Aldermaston site through vigilant access control, site monitoring, and incident response. The role requires a professional and proactive approach to site security, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and security protocols.
Key Objectives and Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor access control points and gate systems.
- Conduct identification and verification checks for personnel and vehicles.
- Manage site deliveries and collections effectively.
- Maintain visitor and contractor records in accordance with site policies.
- Perform thorough personnel and vehicle searches as required.
- Enforce parking policies and manage designated car park areas.
- Patrol buildings and site perimeter on foot and by vehicle.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to emergency incidents.
- Conduct out-of-hours checks on buildings and restricted areas.
Main Duties
- Control all vehicle and pedestrian access and egress to the site.
- Carry out vehicle searches to ensure no prohibited items enter the premises, unless specifically permitted.
- Operate current barrier and gate systems across the site.
- Provide a visible security presence and report any suspicious activity.
- Execute internal and external patrols under the supervision of the Gate Supervisor.
- Support law enforcement or client teams in the event of protests or escalations.
- Complete detailed oral and written reports when required.
- Ensure the site remains secure during non-operational hours.
Person Specification
- Must be a British national due to client security requirements.
- Must be capable of obtaining Security Check (SC) clearance, with the ability to progress to Developed Vetting (DV).
- SIA Licence is preferred; however, training and sponsorship can be provided.
- Demonstrable previous experience in a security role is desirable.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to all company and client health & safety policies and procedures.
- Report any system deficiencies or faulty equipment that could impact service delivery or safety.
- Use all provided personal protective equipment (PPE) and work equipment appropriately.
- Report training needs or safety issues to your line manager or via the appropriate incident reporting channels.
Information Security Responsibilities
- Comply with Mitie's information security procedures at all times.
- Proactively identify and report any information security risks or concerns.
- Report actual or suspected security incidents promptly.
