Data Engineer to join our Group Operations Data Transformation Team, delivering scalable, high‑quality data solutions that support business insight and performance.
- Role Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust
ETL/ELT data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Python.
- Develop and manage streaming data pipelines using Event Hubs and KQL for near real‑time data ingestion.
- Transform and optimise data through bronze, silver, and gold layers within a modern Data Lakehouse architecture.
- Manage ingestion from multiple data sources including
CAFM systems, finance platforms, Salesforce, Io T, and HR systems .
- Work across Azure and Cloudera platforms to deliver scalable and reliable data solutions.
- Data Quality & Governance
- Ensure data integrity through embedded data quality checks in ingestion and transformation pipelines.
- Utilise
Azure Dev Ops and CI/CD pipelines to manage deployments and ensure consistent releases.
- Maintain governance standards including data lineage, dictionaries, and documentation .
- Conduct root cause analysis on data issues and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve upstream discrepancies.
- Build large, complex datasets that meet functional and non‑functional business requirements.
- Review and improve
SQL, Python, and KQL scripts for performance and scalability.
- Conduct performance analysis and recommend optimisation opportunities across pipelines.
- Work closely with Analysts and BI Developers to deliver
“Gold Standard” datasets .
- Communicate technical developments clearly to non‑technical stakeholders and business users .
- Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.
- Strong experience with
Microsoft Fabric and the Azure Data Stack (ADF, Synapse, Data Lake).
- Advanced skills in
Python, Py Spark, and SQL .
- Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines .
- Experience with
Kusto Query Language (KQL) and Event Hubs.
- Experience with
CI/CD, Git Ops, and Azure Dev Ops .
- Knowledge of big data ecosystems such as Cloudera/Hadoop (desirable).
- Proven experience (3+ years) in a Data Engineer role.
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related quantitative discipline.
- Key Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Highly organised, self‑motivated, and able to work in a hybrid environment.
