What You\’ll Be Doing

As an Apprentice at Mitie, you\’ll be at the heart of what we do, making a real impact from day one. Here\’s a glimpse of what your journey could include:

  • Developing core skills and knowledge in horticulture and landscape maintenance, including grass and hedge cutting, border maintenance, clearing leaves, spraying, litter picking, and operating both hand tools and powered horticultural machinery.
  • Collaborating with experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience across a range of outdoor environments.
  • Delivering additional services during winter months, such as gritting, clearing snow etc.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards, making safety and sustainability a priority in every task.
  • Reporting relevant information regarding site hazards to management and operating a range of vehicles, machinery, and equipment in accordance with health and safety procedures.
  • Undertaking additional training as and when required to continually develop your skills.

As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a Level 2 Horticulture and Landscape Operative qualification with Grey Seal Academy, which typically takes 24 months to complete. You will be fully supported by our partners to achieve this qualification, with 1-to-1 advice and support, e-learning materials, and access to a team of experts for guidance and technical knowledge at your office.

We\’re looking for hardworking, motivated individuals who are excited to learn and ready to take on new challenges. To succeed as a Mitie apprentice, you\’ll need:

  • A keen interest in your chosen field.
  • A willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow with us.
  • Dedication to completing your apprenticeship and developing your skills.
  • Some experience in gardening or landscaping is a bonus—even informal experience in your own garden counts

Don\’t have GCSEs in Maths or English yet? That\’s absolutely fine We welcome applicants at all levels and will support you to achieve any qualifications you need as part of your apprenticeship.

No prior formal experience? No problem If you\’re enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn, we\’ll give you all the tools and support you need to succeed.
