Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Fire and Security Systems Engineer role based in York.

The engineer services, configures, tests, and carries out small works on fire and security systems, including alarms, CCTV, access control, and related equipment.

Daily responsibilities include diagnosing faults, performing corrective and preventive maintenance, and completing system upgrades in line with industry standards and client requirements.

The role involves conducting site surveys, preparing accurate documentation and reports, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.

The engineer collaborates with clients, contractors, and colleagues, providing technical support, clear communication, and high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills in installing, maintaining, and commissioning fire alarm, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems.
  • Candidates should possess skills in fault diagnosis, testing, inspection, and preventive maintenance of fire and security systems.
  • Candidates should possess skills in reading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system specifications.
  • Candidates should possess skills in adhering to relevant standards and regulations (e. g., BS5839, BS EN standards) and following health and safety procedures.
  • Candidates should possess skills in customer communication, reporting, and documenting work clearly and accurately.
  • Relevant qualifications such as an NVQ/City & Guilds in electrical or electronic engineering, or equivalent experience in fire and security systems, are beneficial.
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial sites, a full UK driving license, and the ability to pass any required security vetting are advantageous.
  • Candidates should be able to work independently, manage workloads, and participate in call-out or rota duties when required.
