At Rock Power Connections, we’re a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP), specialising in designing and installing new and upgraded electricity connections for businesses, industry, and commercial properties. We’re trusted for our quality, safety, and value, offering clients a full end-to-end service—from initial design and project management through to the final switch-on. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Tendering Engineer to join our team. You’ll play a vital role in developing designs, tenders, and quotations for electrical connection projects, ensuring compliance with DNO/IDNO standards and delivering outstanding service to our clients. You’ll work closely with clients, Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs), supporting projects from early tender through to formal design approvals. Site visits and occasional legal compliance activities may form part of the role. We’re flexible—this can be a full-time position, or we’re open to hearing from candidates looking for a reduced working week or shorter working days. Hybrid working is also available.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit tenders and quotations in line with agreed margins.
- Produce compliant electrical designs in accordance with DNO and IDNO standards.
- Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Evaluate commercial risks and clearly communicate them to senior management.
- Conduct site surveys to inform tenders and quotations.
- Support with design approvals and legal compliance processes when required.
- Handover projects in a clear, structured manner to the Project Delivery team.
- Apply Health & Safety principles in all quotations and designs.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone with proven experience in electrical design and tendering, particularly in complex projects (large loads, multi-substation, apartments, or private networks).
Essential skills & experience:
- Ability to produce site layouts and electrical designs using CAD.
- Strong knowledge of electrical installations and design standards.
- Proficiency with Excel and project cost analysis.
- Experience preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and construction drawings.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and commercially aware.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Experience with EV charging connections or 33kV+ projects.
