Location: UK (hybrid / site‑based depending on project)

Employment Type: Full‑time

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee the commercial and contractual delivery of MEP and decarbonisation projects valued between £1m and £10m. This is a key leadership role, requiring strong commercial expertise, excellent knowledge of MEP systems, and an in‑depth understanding of low‑carbon technologies such as heat pumps and wider energy‑efficiency upgrades.

You will manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring compliance, profitability, programme delivery, and exceptional client satisfaction.

Main Duties

Contract & Commercial Management

  • Lead contractual administration of MEP and decarbonisation projects from award to final account.
  • Review, negotiate, and manage contract terms (NEC, JCT, and other industry forms).
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations including notices, variations, EOTs, and claims.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including forecasting, cost control, and cashflow.
  • Procure, appoint, and manage specialist subcontractors, particularly those delivering low‑carbon solutions.

Project Delivery Oversight

  • Oversee multiple live projects, typically between £1m–£10m in value.
  • Manage delivery of:
  • Air‑source and ground‑source heat pump installations
  • Decarbonisation and energy‑efficiency upgrades
  • Mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) systems
  • Work closely with engineering, commercial, and project management teams to ensure programme, quality, and budget targets are met.
  • Lead regular project reviews to identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain robust change‑management processes.

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Act as the primary contractual point of contact for clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.
  • Build strong relationships to promote repeat business and positive project outcomes.
  • Lead progress meetings and prepare professional contract and project reports.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual and commercial risks across all assigned projects.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory regulations, and industry standards — including those relating to decarbonisation and renewable technologies.
  • Promote best practice and continuous improvement within the commercial function.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager, or a Senior QS/Commercial Manager ready to step up.
  • Strong track record managing MEP or building services projects, typically £1m–£10m.
  • In‑depth understanding of MEP systems and low‑carbon technologies, including heat pumps and decarbonisation strategies.
  • Excellent knowledge of NEC, JCT, or other standard forms of contract.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder‑management abilities.
  • Competent in forecasting, cost reporting, and financial management.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering public‑sector decarbonisation schemes (e.g., PSDS).
  • Professional qualifications such as RICS, CIOB, CICES, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with digital project‑management or cost‑management platforms.

Personal Attributes

  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong commercial acumen with confident decision‑making.
  • Collaborative, engaging leadership style.
  • Solutions‑focused, innovative, and committed to continuous improvement.

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to lead meaningful, future‑focused projects supporting the UK's transition to low‑carbon infrastructure.
  • Work within a dynamic and expanding team passionate about sustainability.
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and ongoing professional development.
