Overview
In this role you lead the security operations at a high-profile M&S distribution centre, ensuring safe, compliant, and professional service delivery. You will manage the on-site security team, coordinate with client stakeholders and the Operations Manager, and drive continuous improvement in security practices. The position combines people leadership with operational oversight to protect assets and support the client’s objectives. This is a collaborative, impact-focused opportunity within a strategic partnership that values integrity and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the on-site security team to maintain excellence in service
- Maintain operational oversight of security activities and ensure procedures are followed
- Serve as primary contact for site security operations and report to the Operations Manager
- Escalate incidents, risks, and issues through appropriate channels
- Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and Mitie management
- Manage welfare, performance, attendance, and conduct according to procedures
- Conduct investigations, audits, inspections, and compliance checks
- Ensure access control, CCTV, search, key control, and incident management are robust
- Produce reports and performance data for senior management
- Support recruitment, training, onboarding, and succession planning
- Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and company requirements
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Support business objectives and operational directives from site leadership
Key requirements
- Previous experience in a Security Manager, Site Manager, Security Supervisor, or equivalent leadership role
- Strong people management and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Experience with policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Ability to build positive relationships with professional boundaries
- Strong decision-making and escalation abilities
- High integrity, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and report writing
- Excellent organisational skills and workload prioritisation
- Ability to work collaboratively within a management structure
- Valid Front Line SIA Licence
