The role provides leadership across engineering, maintenance, compliance, and service delivery teams, ensuring all activities are delivered in line with contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements. The Operations Manager is accountable for driving operational performance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement while maintaining a strong focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and asset reliabilityRole Responsibilities:Lead day-to-day delivery of hard FM services including mechanical and electrical maintenance, critical utilities, and statutory compliance programmesEnsure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with SLAs and KPIs; drive a high-performance cultureEnsure compliance with UK statutory regulations (PSSR, LOLER, PUWER, Legionella), GMP / GxP, and client standards; maintain audit-ready operations and support auditsMonitor KPIs (PPM compliance, reactive response, asset reliability, customer satisfaction), identify gaps, and drive improvement plans using data insightsLead, manage, and develop teams; promote a “One Team” culture and ensure training and competency plansManage client relationships, governance, reporting, and ensure requirements are understood and deliveredSupport P&L, budgets, cost control, subcontractor management, and identify value-add opportunitiesChampion health, safety, and environmental compliance; manage risks, incidents, and RCADrive continuous improvement (Lean, reliability, reduction in reactive maintenance) and embed best practicesRequired Qualifications:Proven experience in an Operations Manager role within hard services FMStrong technical understanding of engineering maintenance and critical systemsExperience in regulated environments with leadership and KPI management capabilityDesirable:Pharmaceutical / life sciences experienceGMP / GxP knowledgeCAFM/CMMS and data-led decision-making experienceFinancial / P&L management experienceQualifications:Degree/HNC/HND in Engineering, FM, or related discipline (or equivalent)Professional memberships (desirable)IOSH / NEBOSH (preferred)Key Behaviours:Strong leadership, accountability, and decision-makingCustomer-focused with strong relationship managementResults-driven and collaborative “One Team” mindsetThere's a place for you at Mitie, join us today!Ref:97503 Location:Stockport Employment:Full time Role Classification:2
