FAFS Fire & Security specialise in designing, installing, commissioning and servicing automatic Fire Detection, Protection and Alarm Systems in and around Greater London. We are currently looking to appoint a new Service Engineer specifically covering the London region.
Responsibilities include:
- Service Fire and associated systems in line with the current regulations.
- Liaising with relevant departments to ensure best practice and the most cost-effective solution.
- Completing and returning all Company documentation and certification to comply with the Company's ISO 9001 systems and procedures.
- Working as a team with colleagues and Service Manager to enhance the Company's reputation in quality and customer service.
- Carrying out scheduled routine servicing in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner in line with our Company's quality standards.
- Carrying out all other necessary works required at customer premises in accordance with our Company's quality standards.
- Supporting the rota schedule as required to maintain a reliable and responsive out of hours service for our customers.
- Effectively communicating with our customers to ensure a good understanding of system and site status, particularly system defects that affect its correct function.
- Indicating to our client's customers any Fire Safety information relevant to the site.
- Planning own work, including routine service/maintenance visits, emergency call out requirements and remedial repairs and minor additions to existing installations in line with service administration guidance.
- Ensuring legible and timely completion of our clients' paperwork as required.
- Being responsible for the management and security of own equipment stock in an efficient and economical manner by determining stock levels in relation to work activities and ordering stock items as and when appropriate.
- Operating in accordance with our client's requirements, Company and customer's quality standards and health and safety requirements.
- Discussing and recommending suggestions for system/service improvement with Line Manager.
Who We're Looking For:
FAFS Fire & Security recognise that our exemplary service can only be maintained by compliance to and the surpassing of British and European Standards which can only be effected through the continuous professional development of all team members. Therefore, we are looking for candidates who offer:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a like for like or similar role.
- Full and detailed understanding of BS5839 Part 1.
- A comprehensive understanding of the causes and cures of fire alarm problems, including an ability to recommend changes to practices and processes that may cause false alarms as well as changes to the fire detection, alarm systems.
- Basic Electrical Safety training (ECA).
- Manufacturers training in all other equipment required, which may include VESDA, Radio and Fire Suppression, decided by the Line Manager based on regional needs.
- Standards BS7671 (if involved in installation work), BS5839 Part 1, BS6266 where required.
- Preferred knowledge and capabilities on working on manufacturers Siemens and Gent analogue Fire alarm systems.
