At Mitie Power & Grid, we are helping deliver the infrastructure that will support the UK's energy future.We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Major Projects team and play a leading commercial role across a portfolio of high-value infrastructure projects throughout the UK.Whether your experience comes from power, utilities, rail, water, highways, civil engineering, M&E, building services or wider construction sectors, this is an opportunity to develop your career within a resilient, growing industry that offers significant long-term opportunities.Working within a hybrid environment, you will collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Planners, clients and supply chain partners to ensure successful commercial outcomes while supporting the continued growth of the business.Main DutiesThe RoleAs a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of major infrastructure projects from award through to final account.You will act as a key commercial leader within the project team, ensuring commercial risks are effectively managed, contractual entitlements are protected and opportunities are maximised throughout the project lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial ManagementLead the commercial management of major projects or project workstreams.Maintain robust commercial controls throughout project delivery.Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.Produce accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and cash flow forecasts.Support project teams in maximising commercial performance and profitability.Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.Contract AdministrationAdminister contracts in accordance with NEC, JCT, FIDIC and other standard forms of contract.Manage change control, compensation events, variations and contractual notices.Prepare, submit and negotiate applications for payment.Support the resolution of commercial and contractual issues.Prepare and negotiate final accounts with clients and supply chain partners.Supply Chain ManagementSupport procurement activities and subcontract package management.Prepare and negotiate subcontract agreements.Assess subcontractor applications and valuations.Manage subcontractor accounts through to final account settlement.Build and maintain strong relationships across the supply chain.Project Delivery SupportWork closely with operational teams to support successful project delivery.Provide commercial guidance to Project Managers and delivery teams.Contribute to project reviews, risk workshops and client meetings.Ensure commercial governance and compliance requirements are met.Leadership and DevelopmentSupport and mentor junior commercial team members.Share best practice across the commercial function.Contribute to the ongoing development of commercial processes and standards.What We're Looking ForEssentialExperience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within construction, engineering, infrastructure, utilities or energy sectors.Strong commercial and contractual awareness.Experience managing subcontractor accounts, change control and final accounts.Experience working under NEC, JCT, FIDIC or similar contract forms.Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.Strong financial reporting and forecasting capability.Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to project locations as required.DesirableExperience within power, utilities, renewable energy, transmission, distribution, BESS or substation projects.Knowledge of High Voltage (HV) electrical infrastructure and associated civil engineering works.Professional membership of RICS, CIOB, ICES, CICES or other relevant professional institution.
