Overview
In this role you will lead the Corporate Communications Department for MOD Lyneham, ensuring compliant internal and external communications under MoD regulations and the Hestia South West contract. You will drive media relations, stakeholder engagement and strategic messaging in partnership with Defence Media and internal teams. The role focuses on safeguarding brand standards and delivering timely, clear communications in a security-conscious environment. This is a strategic, impact-driven position that shapes how the establishment communicates with key audiences.
Responsibilities
- Oversee PR and media activities and act as primary contact for enquiries, press releases, and publicity opportunities
- Deliver corporate communications that align with policies and branding standards
- Build and manage relationships with Defence Media, MOD press officers, regional media, and internal departments
- Support senior management with media briefs, interviews, and coordinating communications for management meetings
- Lead and develop the team while ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance
Key requirements
- Management experience with organizational and decision-making skills
- Proven experience in media relations and PR, with strong media knowledge and relationship-building abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to explain complex information clearly
- Proactive, adaptable and customer-focused with ability to manage changing priorities and deadlines
- IT skills with Microsoft Office and knowledge of Health & Safety legislation; IOSH Managing Safely preferred; NVQ Level 5 or equivalent ideal
