Overview
In this role you will lead QHSE and CDM across Mitie’s Nuclear Security contract, directing safety strategy and compliance on large-scale infrastructure programmes. You will act as the senior CDM lead, advising project teams and clients while embedding CDM throughout the project lifecycle. The position offers strategic influence, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to shape risk management and continuous improvement in a highly regulated environment. Your work contributes to safety, resilience, and operational excellence, reporting to the Divisional QHSE Director and Engineering Division MD. DV clearance is a prerequisite.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and delivery of QHSE improvement plans, assurance programmes and compliance
- Serve as senior competent CDM lead, ensuring 2015 CDM compliance and providing professional advice
- Integrate CDM principles across project lifecycle (planning, information, risk management, Health and Safety File)
- Utilize audits, investigations, and data to identify risks and implement preventive measures
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, Principal Designers/Contractors, designers, and leadership teams
Key requirements
- Chartered IOSH membership (ideally CMIOSH)
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent advanced safety qualification
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and related processes (pre-construction info, design risk assessments, risk registers, CDP, HSF)
- Proven senior QHSE leadership experience across multiple sites or complex programmes
- Experience with internal auditing, ISO standards, incident investigation and root-cause analysis
