You'll play a vital role in ensuring mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while providing excellent service to our customers.What You'll Be DoingAs a Mechanical Engineer, your responsibilities will include:Completing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive, and remedial works using electronic maintenance systems and handheld devices.Maintaining, repairing, and servicing a range of mechanical equipment to ensure optimum performance and reliability.Diagnosing faults, resolving technical issues, and implementing effective solutions.Providing technical support and input into projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.Maintaining accurate digital maintenance records, reports, registers, and documentation.Undertaking survey inspections and maintenance activities in confined spaces and at height where required.Supporting winter maintenance activities, including gritting and snow clearance when necessary.Accepting formal appointments as a Competent Person where required.Promoting sustainability, social value, and environmental initiatives across the contract.Supporting business continuity plans and ensuring operational resilience.What We're Looking ForWe are seeking an individual who:Has strong mechanical maintenance experience within a facilities management, engineering, or building services environment.Delivers a high standard of workmanship and customer service.Can prioritise workloads and meet agreed response and completion times.Is able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider team.Has excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.Demonstrates a strong commitment to health, safety, and compliance.Can communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.Is comfortable using mobile technology, handheld devices, and digital maintenance systems.Essential Qualifications & ExperienceNVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant Engineering Maintenance discipline (or equivalent recognised qualification).NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance (multi-discipline) or equivalent.Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment.Knowledge of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.Experience working within a facilities management, commercial, or industrial environment.Understanding of health, safety, and statutory compliance requirements.Desirable Skills & ExperienceExperience working on building services systems within complex operational environments.Competent Person authorisations or similar industry accreditations.Experience using CAFM and electronic maintenance management systems.Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.Experience supporting business continuity and critical infrastructure environments.Health, Safety & ComplianceYou will be expected to:Comply with all company and client Health & Safety policies and procedures.Use all PPE, tools, and equipment safely and in accordance with training received.Report any defects, hazards, unsafe conditions, or environmental concerns.Support safe systems of work, permit-to-work procedures, and risk assessments.Adhere to all information security and site security requirements.Report any actual or suspected security incidents promptly.Key BehavioursCustomer-focused and service-driven.Reliable, professional, and adaptable.Strong team player with a collaborative approach.Proactive and solution-oriented mindset.Committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence.Able to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.What's in it for You?Opportunity to work within a highly respected facilities management organisation.Ongoing training and development to support career progression.A supportive team environment focused on safety, collaboration, and excellence.Exposure to varied and interesting mechanical engineering challenges.Access to Mitie's market-leading benefits package designed to support your lifestyle and wellbeing.There's a place for you at Mitie.
