Overview
In this role you will lead the daily delivery of all TUPE In, TUPE Out and acquisition payroll activities, ensuring accuracy and timely go-lives. You will coach the TUPE & Acquisitions team, coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, and drive continuous process improvements to protect payroll quality and the employee experience. You’ll manage risks, data quality, and compliance while standardising processes. This is a hands-on leadership role with a focus on delivering reliable payroll transfers at scale in a complex environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day TUPE In/Out and acquisition payroll activity, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met
- Coach and develop team members, set priorities and allocate work
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across HR, Finance, IT, mobilisation, Bid Team and external providers
- Monitor risks, data quality and controls; escalate and coordinate actions as needed
- Standardise processes, controls, templates and guidance; drive continuous improvement
- Plan and track transfers with accuracy in data loading, validation and payroll processing
- Lead audits and ensure compliance with confidentiality and information security requirements
- Design and implement end-to-end improvements with measurable benefits
- Support induction, training, and development for new colleagues
- Attend forums and contract sites to advise on payroll readiness and transfer requirements
- Ensure changes are documented, communicated and embedded with updated materials
Key requirements
- Practical knowledge of TUPE In/Out and acquisition payroll processes (essential)
- Strong payroll administration knowledge, deadlines and data quality (essential)
- Experience in leading, coaching or coordinating teams (essential)
- Proven ability to drive process improvements from diagnosis to implementation (essential)
- Problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills with practical solutions
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Confident stakeholder management and clear communication; ability to escalate appropriately
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- High attention to detail, payroll accuracy, confidentiality
- Expert in Microsoft Office and payroll/HR systems including SAP or equivalent
- Experience in Shared Service Centre environment (preferred)
- Experience in audit, change delivery, process mapping or LEAN (preferred)
