Overview
As an Ecologist in Mitie’s Green Planet Design team, you contribute to nature-positive changes across landscapes. You’ll gain hands-on field experience, work with experienced ecologists, and deliver ecological surveys and biodiversity projects for diverse clients. You’ll support field surveys, data collection, and report preparation to drive high-quality ecological solutions. This role offers hybrid work, a company vehicle for site research, and opportunities to grow within a purpose-driven environment.

Responsibilities
- Assist with ecological surveys (habitat, botanical, protected species, monitoring)
- Record and manage ecological data using field recording systems and GIS tools
- Prepare ecological reports, management plans, and technical documentation
- Assist with Biodiversity Net Gain assessments and habitat condition surveys
- Conduct ecological desk studies and review environmental data
- Perform Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) tasks
- Collaborate with project managers and senior ecologists to deliver projects safely and to a high standard
- Build positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
Key requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Conservation, or related discipline
- Genuine passion for ecology and the environment
- Knowledge of UK habitats, species, and environmental legislation
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility for UK travel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
