About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Chef Manager to oversee the smooth operation of facilities on-site, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality home‑cooked meals across all shifts. You will be responsible for cooking lunch, managing a diverse team, food orders, stock control, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. The successful candidate will play an integral role in both day‑to‑day operations and long‑term strategy, including menu planning and client relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Team & Operations Management: Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the unit, ensuring the team is running efficiently and providing high‑quality meals. Assist with on‑site cover as needed.
- Staff Scheduling: Create and manage staff rotas using Mitie's Workplace Plus system.
- Food Ordering & Stock Control: Manage food orders, deliveries, and stock control using Mitie's Saffron System.
- Food Safety & Allergen Management: Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and allergen control. Government allergen training required (can be provided).
- Menu Creation & Promotions: Assist with the creation of menus (standardized across 6 sites) and help plan theme days and promotions to engage customers.
- Client Relations: Attend colleague engagement meetings and monthly KPI meetings to discuss performance and client relations.
- Financial Management: Handle cash control, safe checks, and banking responsibilities.
- Staff Well‑being: Manage staff absences, return‑to‑work procedures, and ensure a positive working environment for all team members.
Qualifications
- Background in catering at a cooking & supervisory or management level.
- Experience using catering management software, including Mitie's Workplace Plus and Saffron System (desirable but not essential).
- Level 3 Food Safety certification is desirable; training will be provided.
- Government allergen training (can be provided).
- An understanding of the Food Safety Management System.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to handle financial tasks such as cash control and safe checks.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
