About the Role

We are seeking a professional and experienced Store Detective to operate across multiple retail locations within South London as part of the B&Q Contract. This is a mobile role, so access to your own vehicle is essential – mileage expenses will be reimbursed. As a Mobile Store Detective you will reduce theft and stock loss, ensure customer and staff safety, and protect company assets. You will work both covertly and overtly across high‑street retail stores, respond to incidents, and support security operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer behaviour and detect suspicious activity across multiple sites
  • Covertly observe and apprehend shoplifters where appropriate and safe to do so
  • Provide detailed incident reports and witness statements as required
  • Liaise with store managers, staff, and where needed, local police
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and SIA guidelines
  • Travel between assigned stores in South London
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times

Requirements

  • Valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervisor)
  • Previous experience as a Store Detective or Retail Security Officer preferred
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential)
  • Strong observation and communication skills
  • Confident in dealing with conflict and making decisions
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends
