UK Engineering Lead

Job Overview

The main purpose of the role is to provide leadership and expertise on all aspects of the Technical Infrastructure delivery including strategic asset management, Technical Competency, delivery and Engineering support. This role is responsible for developing, embedding and monitoring compliant standards across the business. You will also be responsible for promoting the technical expertise throughout engineering services.

Main Duties

• Develop a strong technical engineering based focus alongside the QHSE, Asset Management, Compliance and Resilience Team.
• Ensure that appropriate controls and monitoring is in place to assess technical compliance. Manage a compliance audit framework to ensure we are compliant with our own systems and policies. Develop and provide a proactive technical compliance support for the team, with a focus on ensuring Statutory/Mandatory compliance of Clients estate.
• Provide a Technical Engineering lead function, that covers Engineer Competency, Training and Skills – acting as delegate SDH to appoint Authorised Persons and Technical Registrations (HV, LV, Pressure Systems, Combustion, Water, Fire and A/C),
• Represent the business as technical engineering expert to support, business development, asset management, technical incident management and investigations/liaison with QHSE and/or expert industry bodies and 3rd parties.

· Own and manage the asset audit system to ensure that all assets are uploaded with accurate condition status, photo and relevant information. Maintaining the accuracy of the clients asset database at all times.

· Demonstrate asset management & compliance to the client via reporting and auditing processes

· Providing the Operations teams with guidance regarding asset management processes and procedures

· Ensure all processes for new and old assets are executed and link in to the operational framework to ensure accuracy of all technical systems

· Using all asset data and MI provide accurate forward planning for capital investments and create a 10 year plan to support the property portfolio

· Full P&L responsibility for Hard services budget

• Lead the engineering skills/competency development and training programme including the support to the Technical Engineering Apprentice/Devlopment programme. To support sourcing plans, including recruitment avoidance, upskilling / cross skilling, recruiting new employees at every level against career paths and capabilities, site sourcing options.
• To provide a leadership network and develop a technical team across the contract
• Manage the team and be responsible for supporting and monitoring Technical Competency and Compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of all applicable legislation and industry standards and notify management of implications, trends and best practice.
• Liaise with the ES Operational, QHSE and support teams on upcoming changes to Legal, Regulatory and Mandatory changes to legislation and present cases for change to senior client representatives (as required).
• Identify and track any technical related business risks along with appropriate mitigating actions.
• Liaise with external bodies and accreditation bodies as necessary.
• Demonstrate continual improvement across the business.
• Develop and maintain internal audit and inspection regimes and nurture an ‘audit ready' culture across the portfolio. Ensure audits & inspections are recorded and drive the completion of corrective actions.
• Ensure that all properties managed by Mitie on behalf of the client are managed according to legislative requirements

· Develop processes/procedures for management of the above

· Liaising with the Capital Planning team and assisting in the capital planning process
