Mitie is looking for an experienced and motivated Security Site Lead to join our team at a new HMRC site in Telford. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role within a high-profile government contract, supporting the delivery of a safe, secure, and professional environment for staff, visitors, and contractors.
As the Security Site Lead, you will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day security operations, supporting the security team, maintaining high standards of service delivery, and acting as a key point of contact for both Mitie management and the client.
About the Role
As Security Site Lead, you'll be responsible for supporting the smooth running of security operations across the site while leading by example and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. You'll supervise security officers, coordinate daily activities, monitor performance, ensure compliance with site procedures, and support incident management while maintaining a strong customer-focused approach. This is a hands-on role that combines operational security duties with team leadership and stakeholder engagement.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a Security Supervisor, Security Team Leader, Site Lead, or similar role
- Valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervisor)
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Experience working within a corporate, government, or high-security environment
- Strong report-writing and incident management skills
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
- Good IT and administrative skills
- Flexible approach to working both day and night shifts
Security Clearance Requirement
This role requires successful candidates to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) Clearance. To be eligible for SC Clearance, applicants will normally need to have been continuously resident in the UK for the previous 5 years, alongside meeting other government vetting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the on-site security team to ensure exceptional service delivery
- Act as the first point of contact for operational security matters
- Ensure compliance with Assignment Instructions, site procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct patrols, inspections, and security audits
- Coordinate incident response and ensure accurate reporting
- Support investigations into security incidents and breaches
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching and guidance where required
- Maintain strong working relationships with the client and key stakeholders
- Ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained at all times
- Assist with training, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members
- Produce accurate reports and operational documentation
