Job Description

Mitie has a great opportunity for a Store Detective to join the Total Security Management Team.

As a Store Detective, you will operate across a network of stores, utilizing your observation skills to help prevent theft of stock. The work of the Store Detective Team is crucial in the identification, apprehension, and prosecution of criminals targeting our client.

The Store Detective must be available to cover various shift patterns and be flexible in working locations and potential changes to working patterns.

Main Duties

  1. Work in collaboration with all members of the security team to achieve a safe and secure shopping environment free from crime and the fear of crime.
  2. Utilize conflict resolution skills to diffuse difficult situations within the workplace.
  3. Report to the Store Detective Team Leader.
  4. Be mindful of legal requirements related to powers of arrest, detention, and welfare responsibilities to ensure personnel safety of all Mitie/Co-op staff and the public.
  5. Ensure effective communication with officers and colleagues to promote an integrated approach to crime prevention and detection.
  6. Adopt an intuitive approach to store layout, considering store demographics and associated risks.
  7. Be a team player with an enthusiastic attitude.
  8. Hold an SIA Licence, preferably a Front Line Licence; CCTV Licence is beneficial.
  9. Possess strong customer service skills and a client-focused attitude, with the ability to build good working relationships.
  10. Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  11. Adapt communication style to meet the needs of different people groups.
  12. Work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
  13. Be resilient, tenacious, and have a proactive approach.
  14. Be capable in the use of technology.
  15. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
  16. Hold a Full UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle.
