Assist in reducing reoffending by supporting behaviour change in prisoners at HMP Millsike. Work within the Offender Management Unit (OMU), handling all aspects of a prisoner’s case, including risk management, parole applications and sentence planning. This non‑operational role does not involve line management responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Administer risk assessment and manage low to medium‑risk prisoners.
- Create and evaluate sentence plans to reduce reoffending.
- Maintain regular communication with prisoners, prioritising face‑to‑face interactions.
- Coordinate with internal and external agencies (courts, police, probation services, parole boards).
- Prepare and submit parole applications and participate in parole board hearings.
- Keep up to date with mandatory training and specialist procedures (e.g., OASYS).
- Analyse complex information to inform assessments and decisions.
Person Specification:
- Intermediate IT skills – proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and central data systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially when interacting with prisoners and professionals.
- Planning and coordinating work with efficiency.
- Self‑confidence and capacity to assess risk in relation to offending behaviour.
- Resilience and ability to think on feet under pressure.
- Organisational skills and adaptability to legislative and procedural changes.
- Team player who can empathise constructively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
