These projects are typically short‑duration and fast‑paced, requiring effective coordination, adaptability, and strong organisational skills to ensure smooth delivery while supporting the embedded Mitie Project Management team.

The main focus of the role is the management and control of contractor activities through robust health and safety and CDM processes, including reviewing and approving contractor RAMS, preparing and maintaining Construction Phase Plans (CPPs), and acting as an Authorised Person to manage, approve, and sign off Permit to Work systems for high‑risk activities.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with the Mitie Project Management team to review and implement project plans. Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing any potential issues.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with CDM regulations, health and safety regulations, company policies, and legal requirements. Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures. Promote a culture of safety and lead by example in enforcing site safety protocols and procedures.
  • Contractor Management: Maintain effective communication with external contractors, providing guidance and support as needed. Evaluate contractor performance, address any issues, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Authorise permits to work and monitor high‑risk tasks through to completion and sign off.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets the required specifications and quality standards. Work closely with contractors to address and resolve any defects or deficiencies in workmanship.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of project activities. Submit safety tours, site inspections, hazard and quality observations on projects meeting the required monthly KPI. Ensure all project documentation is stored and managed in accordance with company policies.

Objectives

  • Ensure all projects are completed within the scheduled time frames, avoiding delays and disruptions.
  • Uphold high standards of quality across all contractor work, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Foster a safe working environment and minimise the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain clear and open lines of communication with contractors, the Mitie Project Management team, and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and contractors simultaneously.
  • Proficient in using project management software and tools.
  • Temporary Works Co‑ordinator (desirable).

Working Conditions

  • A company van will be provided for business travel between BAE Systems sites and project locations.
