MITIE is seeking an experienced, Senior Project Manager to be embedded within a key account operating in a high-security environment.

The role leads the account's project management function, taking ownership of the full project lifecycle – from inception and feasibility through to delivery, handover and completion.

Reporting to the Account Manager, the Senior Project Manager acts as a senior point of liaison for the client, drives robust monthly reporting and governance, and provides leadership, line management and mentoring to a growing team of project professionals.

Success in the role depends on strong delivery discipline, commercial awareness and the discretion and compliance required to operate within a secure setting.

Key Responsibilities / Project Delivery

  • Lead the delivery of multiple concurrent projects from inception to completion, on time, within budget and to the required quality and safety standards.
  • Own project scoping, planning, scheduling, resourcing, risk management and change control across the account portfolio.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts and commercial performance, ensuring value for money and accurate cost control.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and ensure work is delivered in line with MITIE and client governance standards.
  • Account Project Management Function
  • Lead and continuously improve the project management function across the account, embedding consistent processes, tools and best practice.
  • Provide assurance on project controls, methodology and delivery standards for all projects within the account.
  • Identify opportunities for additional project works and support the account's growth and pipeline.
  • Client Liaison & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a senior point of contact for the client on all project matters, building trusted, long-term relationships.
  • Engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders across the client, MITIE and the supply chain.
  • Communicate project progress, risks and decisions clearly and proactively to all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Reporting & Governance
  • Produce and present accurate monthly project reporting covering progress, financials, risk, safety and KPIs.
  • Ensure full compliance with contractual obligations, MITIE policies and client-specific security and governance requirements.
  • Leadership, Line Management & Mentoring
  • Provide day-to-day line management for project managers and project support staff, including objective-setting, performance reviews and development.
  • Coach and mentor team members to raise capability, consistency and professional standards across the function.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture aligned to MITIE's values.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Champion a zero-harm culture, ensuring all projects are delivered safely and in line with CDM and relevant HSE requirements.
  • Ensure safe systems of work, method statements and risk assessments are in place and adhered to.
  • Uphold the security protocols, behaviours and confidentiality demanded by a high-security working environment.

  • Active Developed Vetting (DV) clearance, or eligibility and willingness to undergo DV.
  • Demonstrable senior project management experience delivering projects from inception to completion.
  • Proven track record managing multiple concurrent projects within an account or programme.
  • Strong senior client liaison and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Line management experience, including developing and mentoring project teams.
  • Confident in monthly reporting, budget control and project governance.
  • Sound commercial, risk and change-management awareness.
  • APM qualification (e. g. APM PMQ, PPQ or Chartered Project Professional – Ch PP).
  • NEBOSH certificate (General or Construction).
  • Recognised PM methodology (e. g. PRINCE2, MSP) or equivalent.
  • Experience within facilities management or the built environment.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and safe systems of work.
  • Familiarity with secure-site working practices and compliance regimes.
