Mitie Immigration & Justice is proud to deliver the Justice Partners Escort and Court Custody Service (JPECCS) on behalf of the Scottish Prison Service.
We are looking for committed, professional and resilient individuals to join our operational team as Prisoner Custody Officers (Vehicle Based) at our Aberdeen or Edinburgh or Glasgow Vehicle Bases.
This is a rewarding and challenging role where you will play a vital part in supporting the Scottish justice system by ensuring the safe, secure and respectful transport of individuals between prisons, police custody suites, courts and other authorised locations.

To safely, securely and professionally escort and transport individuals in custody between prisons, courts, police custody suites, healthcare appointments and other approved locations throughout Scotland.
The post holder will maintain the highest standards of prisoner care, safety and security whilst ensuring all movements are conducted in accordance with operational procedures, legislation, contractual requirements and Mitie values
Main Duties
- Prisoner Care and Welfare
- Ensure the safety, security and welfare of all individuals in custody during transportation.
- Treat all individuals with dignity, fairness and respect.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to vulnerable, distressed or at-risk individuals.
- Apply a trauma-informed approach when interacting with those in custody.
- Conduct and document prisoner risk assessments and welfare observations.
- Escorting and Transportation
- Escort prisoners safely between prisons, courts, police custody centres, hospitals and other approved locations.
- Ensure prisoners are transported securely in accordance with legislation and operational procedures.
- Conduct vehicle and equipment checks before and after journeys.
- Maintain the security and integrity of escort vehicles at all times.
- Carry out prisoner handovers and receptions in accordance with established procedures.
- Safety and Security
- Conduct searches of prisoners and escort vehicles as required.
- Prevent escapes and security incidents through vigilance and adherence to procedure.
- Respond effectively to incidents and emergencies.
- Report security concerns, risks and intelligence through the appropriate channels.
- Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
- Partnership Working
- Liaise professionally with Scottish Prison Service staff, Police Scotland, court officials, healthcare providers and other justice partners.
- Promote effective communication and collaboration across the justice system.
- Represent Mitie professionally at all times.
