Job Overview
Relief Security Officer for Plymouth and surrounding areas. Must be able to cover various shift patterns and be flexible in working at multiple locations if required. You must have your own vehicle and a valid UK driving licence. Pay is £14.30 per hour.
Main Duties
- Ensure compliance with all policies, legal and regulatory requirements, as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK law and guidance bodies.
- Carry out all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI’s).
- Review and familiarise yourself with the Assignment Instructions, including any changes, and suggest amendments that improve service level.
- Wear and maintain a front‑line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision, and a CCTV PSS SIA Licence, at all times while working.
- Renew licences 16 weeks before expiry and complete any additional courses required contractually.
- Follow instructions and procedures without unnecessarily challenging authority, working systematically and orderly.
- Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.
- Make check calls during the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions.
Training
- Fulfil all required competency training.
- Complete additional training to ensure continuous self‑development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
- Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge through continual professional development.
- Renew licence 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety
Look out for and immediately report any Health & Safety hazards or potential hazards on site. Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take appropriate action to reduce disruption, loss or damage. Use common sense and initiative by involving others if a situation becomes threatening. Maintain professional conduct when dealing with difficult situations or challenging customers. Keep a detailed notebook entry after any incident for the Incident Report process. Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client. Report all incidents to emergency services and the Communication Centre.
Requirements
- Previous retail security experience.
- SIA licence.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Own transport.
- Flexibility to cover various shift patterns and work at multiple locations.
