Purpose of the Role
To ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control by conducting systematic cleaning efficacy audits across hospital facilities.
The role supports compliance with national healthcare cleanliness standards and internal policies, safeguarding patient safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and ad-hoc cleaning audits in line with National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025 and Trust policies.
- Assess technical cleaning outcomes and processes, ensuring compliance with infection prevention protocols.
- Document audit findings accurately using approved audit management systems (e. g., Synbiotix).
- Provide clear, unbiased feedback to service managers and domestic teams, highlighting non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Infection Prevention & Control teams during audits and elevate issues promptly.
- Monitor trends and produce reports for Quality & Performance meetings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and training related to cleaning standards.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in auditing or quality assurance within healthcare or facilities management.
- Strong understanding of infection control principles and cleaning standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Competent in using digital audit tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clinical and non-clinical teams.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Functional Risk (FR) area classifications and cleaning frequencies.
- Familiarity with NHS compliance frameworks and Health & Safety legislation.
- Additional Information
