Responsibilities
- Carry out internal and external painting and decorating requirements as instructed by management.
- Carry out preparation works to walls to make good ready for decoration.
- Carry out minor repairs to surfaces and structures prior to decorating/painting; undertake minor repair works.
- Use all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works.
- Erecting of access equipment as required, with appropriate training and competency; erection of all necessary access plant and temporary screening to protect the environment and people, in accordance with current Health & Safety guidance.
- Monitor decorating material stock and request new stock as required.
- Prepare areas for decoration, including safely moving heavy equipment (e.g., fridges, filing cabinets, tables).
- Interpret and work from instructions, drawings, and specifications relevant to the trade, without supervision.
- Be conversant and qualified to use and maintain relevant hand and power tools and workshop equipment; carry out a high standard of workmanship as directed by the team leader or works supervisor.
- Respond in a timely manner to verbal, written and reactive tasks; perform painting and decorating to a high standard; provide support and input into projects as required; notify line manager of any complaints/discrepancies.
- Ensure works are carried out within the approved budget; ensure equipment is used efficiently, kept clean, and reused where practical to avoid waste.
- Attend site induction; read and understand the site file and sign applicable receipt pages confirming adherence to method statements/risk assessments; attend training courses as per policy; complete painting and decorating works safely; wear PPE at all times; wear uniform, safety boots and name badges; ensure time sheets are completed and returned on time; follow local procedures as issued; liaise with site management on building-related issues.
Qualifications
- Must hold a recognised qualification or have a minimum of 3 years checkable experience in painting.
- A full driving licence is preferred (but not essential).
- Preferable has served a recognised apprenticeship.
- Organised and able to meet deadlines.
- Must be self-motivated and a team player.
- Conversant with relevant legislation and compliance issues; good knowledge of Health and Safety.
- Must be self-motivated and a good motivator; should have a "Can Do" approach and a positive attitude.
- Must have good customer service skills; capable of carrying out all duties associated with the role of painter/decorator.
Additional Information
Health and Safety responsibilities: Follow Group and company policies and procedures; report deficiencies in systems of work or equipment; use work equipment and PPE properly; report QHSE issues to Line Manager or via incident reporting system.
