Fire & Security Engineer in North East

We are looking for an experienced Engineer to work as a member of the Mitie Fire & Security Systems Operations Field Service team.

The role involves ensuring effective delivery of Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), reactive calls, and additional small works while maintaining compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, testing, inspection, repairs, and installation of fire alarms, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm/associated equipment to relevant legislative and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Attend and participate in company‑initiated training to keep technical knowledge current.
• Follow Health and Safety legislation and demonstrate a high level of safety awareness during all activities.

Qualifications & Skills

• Excellent communication skills.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Previous experience in a similar role carrying out PPM, reactive calls, and small works within the Fire & Security Systems industry.
• Service test and inspection experience to the relevant standards and codes, including fault‑finding techniques.
• Knowledge of PPM, accident reporting, or RAMS and a willingness to follow Health and Safety legislation.
• Engineering background or equivalent, with the ability to share technical and problem‑solving abilities with colleagues.
• Proactive initiative and the ability to work independently and with little supervision.
