Mitie is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Operations to lead delivery across a high-profile national portfolio. This is a critical leadership role, acting as deputy to the Account Director, where you will take ownership of operational performance, strengthen senior client relationships, and drive meaningful improvement across a complex, multi-site IFM contract. This is not a maintenance role - it's an opportunity for a proven leader to step into a visible, high-impact environment and make a difference.
Responsibilities
- Leading national IFM delivery across hard services (M&E, fabric) and soft services (cleaning, catering, workplace services, front-of-house)
- Driving consistent performance against KPIs, SLAs, and contractual obligations
- Leading, developing, and inspiring a team of senior operational leaders
- Strengthening client confidence and stakeholder relationships at a senior level
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and service innovation
- Supporting the delivery of the Account Plan and wider strategic objectives
- Ensuring full compliance across HSE, statutory, and contractual requirements
- Leading performance reviews, reporting, and operational governance
Qualifications – Experience
- Senior-level experience in Integrated Facilities Management (IFM)
- Proven track record delivering multi-site, national portfolios
- Strong experience across both hard and soft FM services
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and complex delivery models
Leadership
- Experience leading senior managers within multi-layered teams
- Track record of transformation, stabilisation, or culture change
- Ability to operate as a trusted number two with progression to Account Director
Client Engagement
- Highly credible, confident, and visible with senior stakeholders
- Strong relationship builder with the ability to influence and rebuild trust
- Commercially aware and solutions-focused
Technical & Operational
- Strong understanding of compliance, H&S, and statutory FM requirements
- Commercially astute, with experience in budgets, reporting, and performance management
