Responsible to a Shift Leader for undertaking mechanical works on a wide range of building services reactive and planned maintenance throughout the London contracts. The work is undertaken on a shift basis to ensure 24hr cover for the London contracts. All shift teams to be complementary with mechanical support across the sites. High standard of planned preventative and reactive maintenance. Able to use diagnostic equipment and work from technical manuals and drawings. Able to identify visual plant defects, warning lights and indicators. Comprehensive understanding of building services and proficient in maintenance of:
- Power, distribution and switching
- Motors controls
- Lighting systems
- Standby generators
- Electrical test procedures and certification
- Control systems
- Inverter operation and design
- Fire alarm/PA systems
Responsibilities:
- Work on a shift basis to provide 24hr cover for London contracts, undertaking mechanical works on building services.
- Perform both reactive and planned preventive maintenance to a high standard.
- Use diagnostic equipment and refer to technical manuals and drawings; identify visual plant defects, warning lights and indicators.
- Maintain and support building services including power distribution and switching, motors and controls, lighting systems, standby generators, electrical test procedures and certification, control systems, inverters, and fire alarm/PA systems.
- Record work accurately on worksheets and computer-based systems.
- Provide excellent customer service to building occupants and keep them informed of work order progress in a timely manner.
- Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and maintain a safe working environment (Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and amendments).
- Contribute to HSE management in accordance with our Quality Management System and statutory requirements.
- Present a professional image through clean and tidy appearance, uniform, and PPE.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safe and efficient site operations.
Qualifications:
- Electrical: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Apprenticeship – Essential.
- Electrical: 18th Edition – Essential.
- Electrical: Testing and Inspection – Essential.
- Plumbing/Mechanical: NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing – Essential.
- Experience of working within commercial properties and installations.
- Good understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and its application within role.
- Ability to effectively prioritise own workload.
- Flexibility and adaptability to change and working hours (subject to EU Working Time Directive).
- Pro-active and positive approach to work; self-motivated.
- Good knowledge of building statutory compliance.
- Must hold a full UK driver’s license.
- Ability to record work accurately on worksheets and computer-based systems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
