About the Role

We are looking for a Detainee Custody Officer to work at the Vehicle Base in Swinderby. Salary: £27,449 per year based on a 40‑hour week.

Responsibilities

  • Escort and transport immigration residents within the UK.
  • Drive a minibus‑sized vehicle and ensure safe transportation of residents.
  • Maintain high security and safety standards while treating residents with dignity and respect.
  • Provide care to immigration residents in a short‑term holding facility.
  • Work flexible shifts, including day, night, 24/7, 365‑day operation.
  • Participate in a random drug and alcohol testing programme and comply with safety‑critical requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • UK, Commonwealth (indefinite leave to remain), or EEA citizen with a valid UK passport.
  • Full UK manual driving licence, at least 12 months experience, fewer than 7 points, no bans in the last 12 months.
  • Over 21 years of age.
  • Enhanced DBS check, 5‑year reference, Counter‑Terrorist Check.
  • Lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years with no single absence over 3 months.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, calm under pressure, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • No prior experience or qualifications required; full training and support will be provided.
  • Must not be under the influence of any substance that could impair safe performance; willing to undergo random drug and alcohol testing.
