Position: Permanent/Core
Rota Pattern: 6 on 3 off (3 days, 3 nights, 3 off)
Hours: 12 hours per shift
Pay: £14.35 an hour
Day shifts timings: 07:00 to 19:00
Night shifts timings: 19:00 to 07:00
Qualifications
- Skills for Security trained & certificated
- SIA licensed
- CCTV Certificated
- First Aid trained & certificated
- ACT Awareness certified (desirable)
- IT literate
- Corporate Customer Services background (desirable)
- A sound understanding of electronic security Access Control & CCTV systems (desirable)

- CCTV surveillance includes the ability to sit for long periods and are therefore required to have an eye break of 10 minutes every hour.

Responsibilities & Specific Tasks
- Protection of Life, Protection of Property, Prevention of Crime, Prevention of Loss and Waste
- Competent in the use and operation of surveillance equipment and surveillance techniques
- Identify improvements and legislative updates and compliance to service or procedures within the control room e.g. CCTV Codes of Practice, Data Protection, Records Management (BNY data management policy), Human Rights and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Acts; General Data Protection Regulations; the CCTV Commissioner.
- Evidence and database management
- Ensures that CCTV operators follow correct procedures including compliance with information sharing protocols
- Assist with the planning, development and coordination of the CCTV & Radio comms
- Provide regular performance management updates for the service requiring statistical analysis
- Ensure that the control room environment is safe, clean, well maintained and fully operational.
- Carries out any other duties that may reasonably fall within the general nature and responsibility of the post as required by the Security Manager
- Monitoring serviceability of security systems by conducting inspections of surveillance cameras, access control and alarm systems to ensure operational readiness
- Incident management: investigating, documenting and reporting security incidents, accidents or security breaches to management
- Administrative duties: maintaining detailed and accurate records, preparing reports and attending management meetings to discuss security matters.
- Monitoring of CCTV, Access Control and other protective systems, and act as a first line response to activations, faults & incidents
- To attain and maintain a high level of knowledge of the Site Assignment Instructions and Emergency Procedures and their local implementation, including - building lock downs, shelter in place, emergency evacuation and first aid response in line with training level capacity
- Document everything: produce timely reports of incidents and alarm activations, check & log reports whilst taking appropriate follow up action
- To log and transfer calls, relay messages and provide guidance and advice to visitors, clients, contractors and staff
- To react positively and professionally in support of security operations and emergency situations as required
- Application of guidelines for CCTV operators under the display screen equipment regulations
- Successfully complete site induction training to satisfactory standard, including completion of the Op Warden Trigger Plan, BNY Unannounced (Dawn Raids) training module within the designated training period; and any other Corporate Security training courses deemed appropriate by Corporate Security Management
- Complete satisfactory probationary assessment as part of personal training and development plan
Operational Duties
- Monitoring of external and internal activity specific to multiple locations while identifying occurrences of suspicious or unusual behaviour
- Tracking of suspicious individuals specific to possible risk or threat
- Communication and liaison with security staff or police to provide detailed intelligence about suspects, such as their behaviours, actions, location and description.
- Ensuring CCTV systems are checked and fully functioning, and that video footage is recorded and stored appropriately
- Assisting police in their enquiries by providing access to CCTV recordings, or copies of footage, as required, subject to appropriate GSPR protocol
- Provision of surveillance support to site patrolling program in support of risk identification and prevention
- Application of excellent situational awareness in relation to maintaining a high level of security and safety risk awareness, by being inquisitive while exercising caution and good judgement at all times
- Observation and surveillance skills to include risk and threat identification
- Application of SCaN principles and Power of Hello commensurate with countering risk of Hostile Reconnaissance
- Speedy and accurate reporting of suspicious activity
- Have a clear understanding of guidance and response relating to Trespass & Aggravated Trespass, Static Protest and Protest in Place situations
- Understanding of risk specific to social media
- Auditor attention and application of NPSA guidance pertaining to the CALM approach
- Ability to act immediately in support of Emergency Response
- Ability to operate mail X-ray scanner, including identification of suspicious packages commensurate with PAS 97 Mail Screening and Security Specification (for cross training in emergency back up only)
- To maintain appropriate and timely contact with both the client and Mitie management in accordance with specific instructions and routine duties
- To follow and comply with all routine site operating procedures
- To maintain communications with BNY Global Corporate Security management and London Command Centre (LCC) in support of local and wider regional operations.
