We are currently recruiting for a Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our Rock Power Connections Technical Operations team. This is your role. What part will you play? To act as Commissioning Engineer undertaking commissioning activities / duties on a wide range of distribution power system plant, control and protection and other substation equipment to a high level of competence.
Responsibilities:
- Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality:
- Attend company authorisation / induction courses as required by Mitie Power & Grid
- Ensure that personally held test equipment is maintained in good working order and within calibration and to issue for re-calibration within appropriate time scales
- Maintain a safety & zero lost hours culture for all related site activities through good housekeeping, adhering to site safety rules, wearing correct PPE, proactively identifying safety and environmental improvements, offering solutions to issues and corrections to hazards (if appropriate) and applying company specific safety rules.
- Testing & Commissioning:
- Be flexible to travel across the UK when required with fair and reasonable notice
- To attend Commissioning Panel Meetings as required
- To take the role of Lead Commissioning Engineer on designated projects, coordinating and managing commissioning activities, whilst acting as a focal point for the customer
- Completion of Commissioning Inspections, off load commissioning and on load commissioning as identified under the relevant DNO/IDNO Procedures
- To prepare and collate commissioning documentation to be incorporated in to final project folders such as drawing mark-ups and test data / documentation
- To fulfil Commissioning Panel duties within competency e.g., production of commissioning programmes, commissioning method statements, inspection schedules, etc, within specified time scales
- To undertake and complete testing and final commissioning on a wide range of plant and equipment at various voltage levels including fault investigation, diagnostic activities and rectification of faults within competence in accordance with the client's specification and documentation
- To participate, undertake and support FAT's
- To support apprentice commissioning engineers as required and to act as a role Model
- Staff Development:
- To identify and inform Head of Technical Operations when specific product related training is required in order to satisfactorily complete commissioning activities
- Day-to-Day Control:
- Provide technical support and direction, within their competence, to Rock Power Connections Project Team members, including the application of technical standards
- To liaise and work with internal and client Design Engineers to resolve design related queries
- To undertake other activities which the Company may reasonably require to be undertaken on a temporary basis which are within an individual's area of competence
- To report progress and/or problems to the Site Manager or Operations Manager / Engineer responsible for project delivery
- Assist & support the Field team - technical queries, quality plans, project commissioning programs, RAMS & EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) objectives
Role Requirements:
- Working Safely or equivalent i.e. Safety Passport
- HNC / Degree in electrical engineering
- DNO Competent Person
- Knowledge of CDM regulations
- Demonstrable extensive experience working as a Commissioning Engineer in Electricity Supply Industry with exposure to LV, MV, HV & voltage schemes
- Demonstrable comprehensive experience of working on a range of protection schemes and protection relays, DC systems, AC systems including primary and secondary injection testing of complex protection schemes.
- Demonstrable comprehensive experience of working on various types of power plant and equipment.
- Proven fault-finding experience
- Understanding of permit control & Isolations for a variety of clients such as NGED, SSE etc
