Protect customer property, people, and assets by providing security services in line with site Assignment Instructions (AIs). Meet or exceed KPIs and SLAs through accountable, high-quality service that supports contract retention. Undertake ongoing training and development to maintain and improve professional performance.
Main Duties
- Provide security cover across various client sites, working flexible day and night shifts of 10 to 12 hours as required by operational needs.
- Read, understand, and comply with all Assignment Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessments, and site-specific Security Instructions.
- Protect client property, assets, infrastructure, and rolling stock from theft, vandalism, trespassing, anti-social behaviour, and other criminal activities.
- Deter and prevent graffiti attacks on rolling stock and site facilities through proactive patrols and visible security presence.
- Conduct regular internal and external patrols of premises, buildings, compounds, railway infrastructure, and perimeter boundaries in all weather conditions.
- Monitor sites for suspicious activity, security breaches, safety hazards, or unauthorized access and take appropriate action in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain effective access control by verifying the identity and authorization of employees, contractors, visitors, and delivery personnel before granting entry.
- Operate security systems, gates, barriers, and access control equipment to ensure site security is maintained at all times.
- Respond promptly and professionally to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and requests for assistance, following established procedures and escalation processes.
- Liaise with client representatives, contractors, emergency services, and members of the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Record and report all incidents, accidents, security breaches, and suspicious activity accurately using occurrence books, patrol logs, and incident reporting systems.
- Carry out vehicle and personnel checks where required and ensure compliance with site security policies.
- Identify and report security vulnerabilities, damaged infrastructure, faulty equipment, or health and safety concerns that could affect site operations.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, professionalism, and customer service while representing the company and client.
- Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with company policies, industry regulations, and health and safety requirements.
- Provide detailed handovers to oncoming security personnel to ensure continuity of operations and effective communication between shifts.
- Remain vigilant at all times and contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and controlled environment for staff, visitors, contractors, and client assets.
Training
- Medical Assessment (which will include a stand alone drug & alcohol test) You must pass a medical examination before the vetting process can begin. If you fail the medical, your application will not proceed further.
- Vetting / Screening After passing the medical, the vetting team will carry out background and security checks. You must successfully pass these checks to continue.
- Work Safety Induction (WSI) Once vetting is completed, you will attend the Work Safety Induction course. This course must be passed before moving to the next stage.
- Depot Track Awareness (DTA) After completing the WSI, you will attend the Depot Track Awareness course. This course must also be passed.
- Pass Requirements You are allowed up to 3 attempts to pass both the WSI and DTA courses. If you do not pass within those 3 attempts, your job offer will be withdrawn (revoked).
In short: Medical > Vetting > WSI > DTA > Employment, with a maximum of three attempts to pass the WSI and DTA training courses.
