Location: Stourbridge Office. Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm; Friday 9am – 4pm. Salary depending on experience.

Argus Fire launched in 1982 and is now part of the Mitie Group. We are the UK's class-leading supplier of fire detection and fire protection systems. We design, install, and maintain all types of automatically operating fire extinguishing systems and electronically activated fire detection and alarm systems for large projects through to servicing small standalone products. We currently have over 200 employees with offices in Stourbridge (HQ), Manchester and London.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Estimator, with previous experience within the fire protection sector, to join our busy Sales and Estimating Team. This role is a Lead Estimator – Mechanical Systems within the Sales & Estimating Department, analyzing blueprints & specifications to develop installation proposals in line with client requirements and managing one of two clusters of engineers. This role is specific to mechanical projects and will involve estimating and selling fixed fire fighting systems for a range of markets within the UK & Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents including project specific consultant specifications & drawings.
  • Liaise with clients & attend meetings to discuss projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Where required, survey and obtain key information to inform estimates.
  • Contact suppliers to obtain project specific costs.
  • Utilise computer aided design software to develop blueprints and preliminary design to inform the estimate.
  • Utilise in house calculation software to develop a fixed estimate.
  • Develop a detailed proposal document complete with associated deliverables where applicable.
  • Monitor and progress submitted quotations to obtain client feedback, negotiate & prepare win/loss KPIs and lessons learnt.
  • People manage one of two groups of Estimators.
  • Regular dialogue with other departments across the business including, but not limited to, projects, commercial and design.
  • Internal handover meetings upon project award.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical understanding of international fire protection related standards including LPC / BSEN12845, BS9251, BS5306, BS9990, FM & NFPA Systems.
  • Experience in team leadership.
  • Experience within the special hazard market would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Proven IT skills with experience of MS Office packages.
  • Friendly and outgoing personality with the natural ability to engage with customers/clients representing Argus Fire professionally and positively.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK & overseas.
  • Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable numerical skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Full UK driving license with less than 6 points.
  • DBS check required.
